Founded in 1972 by Stanislav Pečjak as a small biscuit bakery, Pekarna Pečjak has grown into one of Slovenia’s leading family-owned food producing companies. With over 50 years of tradition in crafting high-quality baked goods, the company now employs more than 430 people and offers its products in most of European.

It all started with biscuits

The story of Pekarna Pečjak began in Vrhnika with a simple, yet heartfelt product: biscuits made with care in a small, artisanal bakery. Stanislav Pečjak, together with Jože Adamič and Herman Kovač, started the business at a time when entrepreneurship in Slovenia was still in its infancy.

We are dedicated to sustainability. We reduce noise, light pollution, energy and water consumption, and our overall carbon footprint. We minimize raw material waste and food waste, and support sustainable, organic, and humane raw material production. We prioritize local suppliers and encourage plant-based nutrition—all without compromising quality.

At Pekarna Pečjak, quality is at heart of everything we do. Beyond complying with European and national legislation, we follow to the strictest industry standards, continuously improving our processes to ensure safe, high-quality food for our customers.

We achieved the IFS certification in 2006 and have successfully maintained it every year since, demonstrating that our production meets the highest international standards for food safety and quality. Our products are rigorously tested to ensure they are safe, hygienically impeccable, and consistenly reliable.

Since 2000, our production process has been guided by HACCP principles. Every day, we monitor, verify, and validate every step—from ingredient arrival to product dispatch—to efficiently manage risks and guarantee food safety at every stage of production.

Certificates and awards

Ensuring the highest quality of our products is at the core of Pekarna Pečjak’s strategy, reflected in every aspect of our operations. The numerous certificates we have earned over the years showcase the dedication and expertise of our development and production teams.

In 2018, we received our organic food certification for all our organic pasta. This guarantees that every product is made exclusively from organically grown ingredients and fully complies with European regulations and standards for organic farming and processing. Our organic pasta stands out for its simple, high-quality ingredients, exceptional taste, and rich aroma. Selected products, including our eco pasta also carry this certification.

In 2017, we obtained the V-label vegan certification for our vegan product line. From sweet pastries to standalone meals and side dishes, we continue expanding our vegan offerings, ensuring they meet the highest standards for taste, quality and sustainability.
